The Weekly February 24 2023

We did it! Big news around here…

If you’ve been wondering why the Shores team have been walking around Avalon with huge grins on our faces the past few days, now you’ll know why. Last week, we were acknowledged as the HIGHEST RANKING real estate agency on the Northern Beaches for property management services in the RateMyAgent 2023 Agent of the Year Awards. We’re in the Top 100 across Australia!

These aren’t any old awards either. The highly anticipated RateMyAgent Agent of the Year Awards are the only awards in the industry and are based primarily on customer satisfaction. You’re not awarded thanks to your peers or a panel of big wigs, but for being most consistently independently recommended by local Aussie and NZ vendors, landlords and buyers. RE: You guys! To put it neatly, the Shores property management team have secured the highest satisfaction rating of any real estate agency on the Northern Beaches. No. Small. Feat.

A huge congratulations to the one and only Sienna Berney and the entire property management team for such an incredible achievement. Proud as punch, if we do say so ourselves.

Market wrap

Besides our big win?! Nothing worth mentioning. But if we must. The admission from RBA boss Philip Lowe that rate rises may have gone too far has made us vocal, and delving more deeply into the complexities of inflation and the plan of attack re: more hikes on the cards, in this thorough read from the ABC. It truly is a tough time for households country wide. So we’re looking at actionable changes, like how to make savings in energy, with brilliant tips and tricks for renters and owners from the Climate Council, and exciting energy-saving apartment living developments paving a way for a much greener, and more affordable, future ahead.

What’s on

Infidelity and Other Affairs. Award-winning journalist and author Kate Legge’s brave, unflinching and heartbreaking examination of adultery is not only a must-read but a deeply personal piece of work. Legge discovered her husband’s affair, numerous affairs, and through her white rage,  pain and disbelief began doing what she does best – investigating the why of infidelity itself. Is it simply lust? Upbringing? Genetic disposition? Bookoccino is hosting Legge in conversation with Geraldine Doogue at Moby Dicks on March 1 to talk through it all, and it would be a travesty to miss this incredible woman speak. Can’t make it? Read. This. Book.

On a different side of the coin, and in another incredible conversation you won’t want to miss, the team from Tomorrow Man is hosting one of their incredible and FREE workshops A Night with the Blokes at Avalon Beach SLSC on Thursday, March 9. What’s it all about? Two hours of casual and honest conversation amongst men of all ages with the aim of examining current male stereotypes that can have a devastating chokehold, and discussing what the future could look like. Proudly supported by Gotcha4Life, Tomorrow Man (and their sister arm, Tomorrow Women) facilitate conversations, workshops and programs to help smash the current status quo and navigate the complex world of gendered expectations for better, more fulfilling lives. Imagine if they’d been around 30 years ago. Book now or tell the men in your life.

There’s no good segue for this but gosh you’ve got to get on it! Newport’s cult lifestyle and adventure brand, Pony Rider are moving their beloved flagship store (thanks, not thanks, to impending Robertson Road development) and with that, they’re cleaning house at 40% off! That’s right, their in-the-know homewares, sustainably-minded upcycled canvas goods and chic yet sturdy accessories (if you haven’t got a canvas tote bag, what are carrying your life in?) are going for a bargain – and this does not happen often. Online and instore, people. Ends midnight Feb 26.
