Newport NSW 2016

Newport is a beachside residential village around 48 minutes from Sydney’s CBD. With a mix of both houses and apartments, permanent residents and holiday-makers, it has a growing collection of restaurants, cafes, pubs and boutiques creating a vibrant village scene.

Newport Beach and its golden sands are 1.3 kilometre long. It features a child-friendly park and is great for escaping the crowds at other Sydney beaches. It is renowned for surfing and swimming and includes a 50 metre saltwater lap pool.

Founded in 1909, Newport Beach is firmly part of Australian surfing history and culture and its Surf Lifesaving Club has been keeping people safe for over 100 years. It is home to three-time world surfing champion, Tom Carroll among others.

Across the peninsula is Pittwater, the perfect bay for boating, sailing and fishing enthusiasts with its array of marinas and boat ramps. This area is home to the Royal Motor Yacht Club Broken Bay, and the Merivale establishment: The Newport, an idyllic gathering place for all ages, with stunning waterfront views and a variety of food outlets.

Educational options include local government schools, independent and religious schools as well as pre-K and childcare centres. Schools are most commonly reached by bus or car. Many independent private schools on the Northern Beaches and Upper North Shore provide door-to-door bus services to students as far up as the Hitchcock Park Parking Area on Barrenjoey Road near Avalon, Whale and Palm Beach.
