Selling in Spring!
Despite ongoing negative press, the market locally remains resilient.
Our experience is that houses priced carefully, and well presented, are selling across all prices points.
In recent weeks we’ve sold a range of houses, some arguably needing work, but in great settings, beautifully presented and offered at the right price point. All have sold within the 4 week campaign period.
The traditional Spring Selling Season is here. Recently, the market has been reported as less frenetic than last year, with buyers more cautious, and sellers expectations too high. But that doesn’t mean, at all, that there aren’t buyers…there are plenty.
If you are selling, or thinking of doing so, presenting your home to its best is really important. And even if you’re not selling, now is the perfect time to do home maintenance, painting and decluttering, and tackling that garden. It’s a great opportunity to clear house, garden, and brain…
Our community is pretty good about living lightly on the land. We’re all well trained on rubbish, recycling, repurposing and reusing, and of course anything we can avoid dropping into landfill is excellent.
Neighbouring council, Ku-ring-gai, I’ve noticed, is great at identifying ways we can engage and improve our green efforts further…worth having a look at what they’ve got on in September! Their tips on sustainable living in general via their Sustainability webinars are excellent:
Our lovely friends at Bookocinno are always coming up with fascinating presentations by authors, as well as live music, and, of course, a great selection of books.
This Saturday (Sept 3), they’re showcasing a new book, and film, called ‘Embrace Kids’. The film, book, and film-maker will be at the Avalon Cinema, from 4.30-7.00pm.
Avalon’s wonderful cinema is a great asset to the community, flagging independent films and film-makers. So, let’s get out, and support local!
And maybe make it ‘a night on the town’. Take the kids to the film, then head out for a burger, a beer, any one of the range of restaurants we’re so lucky to have!

So, if you fancy a bit of a walk and view along a different stretch of coast, here’s a date for your diary…
After a hiatus caused by covid, Sculpture by the Sea will return along the 2km Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk from Friday 21 October – Monday 7 November 2022 for its 24th year; pretty impressive!
It’s an easy, super scenic walk, and from experience, the artwork is always interesting and often spectacular. This year, there will be over 100 artworks from Australian and international sculptors, it’s the world’s largest free-to-the-public outdoor sculpture exhibition, and approximately half a million visitors expected to attend over the three-week exhibition.
Our advice? Don’t go at the weekend! And especially don’t go on the last weekend, when everyone seems to suddenly realise it’s almost over.
Locally, the Avalon Quilters have an exhibition at the Uniting Church at 44 Bellevue Avenue, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 9-5 pm. And a raffle to win!
A bit of local admin, don’t forget to put your new Northern Beaches parking sticker on your car!
And last week we put the wrong date on the new Market on the Green (sorry!) it’s going to be at the Avalon Bowlo on Sunday September 11, from 11.00am. As ever, let’s support local…
